About the Bullmastiff
Origins of the Breed
A British breed evolved from the Mastiff and the Bulldog. Primarily used as a guard dog and, in olden times, to help the gamekeeper in the apprehension of poachers.
Naturally intelligent and observant, the bullmastiff is easily trained but needs to have a reason for doing things. Highly spirited, they make a happy companion who is totally reliable both physically and mentally. Devoted to the members of thier human family, thier bravery and courage in defending them against intruders is legendary. They can quickly assess a situation, and this, combined with acute hearing, makes them an excellent house-dog. They are very strong, but amenable to kindly discipline.
Temperament and Training
The Bullmastiff is fearless and confident, yet remains docile and sweet-natured with his family. The Bullmastiff is considered a large breed dog with a expected medium energy output.
They are considered to be a highly intelligent dog and training your bullmastistiff is a non negotiable, training should be fun however and a well trained and sociable bullmastiff will reward you as a loyal companion.
